Johnson named MSG Varsity Connecticut Player of the Year

June 21, 2016 – Scout team center fielder Trevor Johnson brought home some serious hardware, being named the 2016 MSG Varsity Connecticut High School Baseball Player of the Year. The Dartmouth bound Johnson batted .470 with four home runs, 23 runs scored and 24 RBI leading The Brunswick School to their second consecutive FAA conference championship.

When asked about the accomplishment, the team-first and always humble Johnson stated, “Coming into Brunswick my sophomore year I knew that we had a talented and devoted group of guys in my class. We all shared a great work ethic and a bundle of talent which lead us to being one of the best teams around. In the end, winning the FAA championship and being ranked as the 38th best team in the nation by perfect game, were great honors that reflected the work we put in. Personally, winning the player of the year award for Connecticut was a great honor that I couldn’t have achieved without the help of my teammates and coaching staff. As a whole I couldn’t have asked for a better senior season.”

Johnson is a top of the lineup catalyst for the Scout Team who consistently sets the tone both with his on field ability and off the charts competitive nature. “Trevor leads his teammates by example,” stated Scout Team Manager Ian Millman. “He has an advanced feel for the game, off the chart instincts, and a competitive drive that most players his age should have but don’t. I think multiple MLB organizations missed on this kid this past June, and they will take careful notice of him at Dartmouth. He is a legitimate two-way threat and I won’t be surprised if his name is all over our record board by summer’s end.”

When asked about his return to the Nine for his important pre-freshman season he stated, “I decided to play with the Nine Scout team to continue within a competitive, winning culture and play tough competition in order improve my game every day. This will best prepare me for Dartmouth.”
